WORKSHOP: Adam Khazhmuradov - Arthropod movement

July 08-10, 2026, 2-5 pm

In this workshop we are going to explore the boundaries of our imagination connected to the physical body. The primal source of movement will be our senses, especially from within our skin. We'll dive into sensations and imagery where there is no distinction between reality and imagination, between inner and outer sensations. We'll try to merge the body to its relational milieu.

We will dive into a chaos of exercises and tasks to eventually find our own way of truly moving like our core limitless and hypersensitive being/insect 👀

But most of all just being stupid with each other!

Next to this we will also explore some repertoire and do creative tasks.

improvisation & repertoire - Insects & floorloving

Adam Khazhmuradov

Adam began his dance career with street styles like hip-hop, house, and breakdance. He studied Urban Contemporary/Jazz Musical at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and danced with the Hofesh Shechter Company, Club Guy & Roni, and Dalton Jansen, among others. His roots in Kazakhstan and Guinea, his academic background in Belgium and the Netherlands, and his international experience as a dancer allow him to move between different worlds and constantly explore how art can break down these boundaries.

His work lies at the intersection of performance art, contemporary dance, and social engagement. As a choreographer, he explores how dance can question the senses, identity, and systems thinking.

Currently, Adam works as a freelance dancer and develops his own signature style as a choreographer through residencies, educational programs, and multidisciplinary collaborations.

WORKSHOPS

In each workshop, participants work intensively over the course of 3 days with one of the artists.

Adam Khazhmuradov's workshop is an INTENSIVE - meaning a faster pace, intended for highly motivated participants, dancers with more experience, and professionals.

SUMMER ACADEMY

The TanzFaktur SommerAkademie - Cologne's international festival for contemporary dance - takes place every year in mid-July. The large-scale two-week festival is a platform for high-caliber national and international artists, projects and collectives.

In addition to the performances, workshops for professionals and dance enthusiasts offer opportunities for dialogue between dance professionals and the audience.

We will dive into perceptions and images where there is no separation between reality and imagination, between inner and outer sensations. We try to merge the body with its relational environment.

We will throw ourselves into a chaos of exercises and tasks to finally find our own way to truly move like our innermost boundless and hypersensitive being/insect 👀

Most importantly, it's about being silly together!

We will also explore repertoire and do creative tasks.

Improvisation & Repertoire - Insects & Floorloving
