Was bleibt. Drei Autorinnen über Familie, Erinnerung und Neuanfänge: Annika Büsing, Jarka Kubsova & Geraldine Oetken
In the organizer's words:
In their latest books, Annika Büsing, Jarka Kubsova, and Geraldine Oetken explore family bonds and rifts, hidden stories, repressed memories, and the question of how our origins shape our lives. Sometimes the search leads back to one’s own childhood and first love; other times, it delves deep into family history or into the buried memories of an entire region. The common thread is always about finding the courage to look closely—and perhaps discovering the possibility of a fresh start in the process.
Annika Büsing’s novel*Magisch*tells of a return to the Ruhr region, of first love, sibling bonds, and the question of how to confront conflicts within one’s own family. In*Im Licht des neuen Tages*, Jarka Kubsova weaves the present and the past into a moving story about memory, women’s freedom, and the search for truth. In*Frieda*, Geraldine Oetken sets out to trace the life of a great-great-aunt who had long been kept secret and asks what family silence has to do with our present.
