The dark side of rock: THEMIS skillfully blends the dark with the bittersweet and the emotional, combined with a generous dose of queer power and punk attitude. Their 2021 debut album,“The Heavy Door,” was celebrated by fans and music blogs alike. With their 2023 six-track EP“Thalassa”(Greek for “the sea”), THEMIS delved even deeper into the intoxicating world of dark, reverb-laden rock melodies, grungy bass riffs, and loud, driving drums—as vast and heavy as the sea itself.

For their latest album, *Self Mythology* (released in 2025 on My Favourite Chords), they sought fresh input: producer Ralv Milberg (Die Nerven, Karies, Levin Goes Lightly) contributed his expertise and their shared love of noise and soundscapes to the development of the new songs—resulting in a mature album that focuses more on THEMIS’s personal development, values, spirituality, empowerment, and coming of age.

Especially when performing live, THEMIS and his band cast a magical spell over their audience and have won over fans of bands like The Pale White, False Heads, and Tribe Friday during several support tours: melancholic yet pulsating, punk-infused, danceable, raw, and occasionally rounded out with an acoustic solo song, THEMIS’s dark and beguiling musical blend of garage rock, indie, and dark wave is reminiscent of acts like Placebo, Bauhaus, The Kills, PJ Harvey, or Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
