The Gentle Space: Touch & Presence
In the organizer's words:
Experience calm, non-sexual physical closeness, gentle relaxation, and co-regulation within a safe, consensual, and sensitive space.
About the format:
In a hectic world, unhurried tenderness, coziness, and mindful touch often fall by the wayside. This format is essentially a guided “cuddle puddle”—a safe, supported space where we use mindful, non-sexual touch to calm our nervous systems and co-regulate together.
You retain full control at all times over how long, with whom, and how much physical contact you’d like to have.
Here’s how the session works:
- 🍵 Check-in & Tea Circle: We start off in a relaxed way and make sure everyone feels comfortable. Tea and water are available for you.
- 💬 Consent & Interaction: Together, we explore ways to establish verbal and nonverbal consent; there are guided icebreakers to help us connect gently.
- 🛋️ Free Cuddling: Mingle in the free cuddle pile to soft, gentle music. (Kuem, as the facilitator, is part of the cuddle pile.)
- 🌿 Gentle Wind-Down: You’ll be mindfully guided out of the cuddling session and can share your experiences in the closing sharing circle (..).
Who is this event for?
This event is open to anyone who treats the space and others with respect. We expect all participants to show mutual recognition, respect, and mindful interaction. We expect that you have engaged with the diversity of identities (queer, trans, BIPoC, neurodiverse…) and have a basic understanding of consent.
Preparation & What to Bring:
- 🧦 Clothing: Come in super cozy, comfortable clothes (bonus points for interesting, soft textures!).
- 🚫 Scents: Please refrain from wearing strong-smelling perfumes or deodorants on the day of the event.
- 🧸 What to bring: Feel free to bring your favorite blanket, a pillow, and your favorite stuffed animal.
- 👓 At the venue: Jewelry, glasses, and any items that might be distracting can be set aside at the start of the session.
