SPIRIT MOTHER

Spirit Mother is a heavy rock band that originated in Long Beach, CA, and is now based in rural Burns, Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest. Their sound is shaped by folk and classical influences. Their dynamic and imposing wall of sound, coupled with a driving backbeat, captivates listeners with atmospheric strings and haunting vocals. Guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Armand Lance crafts the foundation of the music in the attic of his rural ranch between tending to cattle and herding mustangs—a reflection of his father’s upbringing as a cowboy in Ecuador. Joined by the band’s co-founder, SJ, Mia Rose, and Michael Fenris, the group gathers at this cabin to write and develop their repertoire before hitting the road for tours both nationally and internationally. 

The band signed with Heavy Psych Sounds Records while in the studio recording their second album, *Trails*, in between regional West Coast tours throughout the winter and spring of 2024. The Heavy Chronicles dubbed it the black sheep of the Heavy Psych Sounds Records catalog, noting that “Trails” reveals a band with a hybrid sound inspired as much by the hypnotic, harsh Americana of rural Midwestern ghost towns as by the steamy shoegaze of the early ’90s. The fall release of “Trails” was accompanied by another coast-to-coast U.S. tour, with stops at Desert Fest NYC and Levitation Fest in Austin, Tx, as well as European tour dates in the summer of 2025 at festivals including Rock Im Wald, Blue Moon, Berg Herzburg, and Hoflarm, and at clubs across the continent in between. 

The band returned home and locked themselves away throughout the fall and winter to embark on their most ambitious project yet: to write, record, and self-produce their third studio album in the very same attic that inspires their music—from conception to birth. Spirit Mother’s new album will be released by Sound Of Liberation Records on September 4, 2026, with European tour dates to follow.
