„Nie standen die Frauen an ihrem gehörigen Platze…“. Charlotte von Stein als Dramatikerin. Mit einem Blick auf die Neuedition. Vortrag von Prof. Dr. Gaby Pailer, Vancouver
In the organizer's words:
Until recently, Charlotte von Stein (1742–1827) was primarily regarded as Goethe’s “friend and muse.” She is now stepping out of his shadow with her four plays: *Rino* (1776), *Dido* (1794), “Neues Freiheits-System oder die Verschwörung gegen die Liebe” (1798/99), and “Die zwey Emilien” (1803), in a forthcoming new edition with English translations, scheduled for release in the summer/fall of 2026. The lecture will provide insight into the diversity of Stein’s plays as well as the editorial project, a collaboration between the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, the Klassik-Stiftung, and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
