NEURONOISE

I’m not normal. That’s my identity.

The exhibition explores the theme of neurodiversity and features works by five artists as well as two bands from the alternative and punk rock scenes: Blarg and Tylee And The Gang from Cologne, and the Düsseldorf-based sound performance duo XIORING, consisting of Riad Nasser and Taka Kagitomi. Cologne-based performance artist Oskar Lovis performs his new song “All over me” on the piano. Drawing on personal experiences, they open up new perspectives on perception, identity, and social participation. The focus is on how art and music can foster understanding, empathy, and dialogue between different life realities.

A special emphasis is placed on youth participation. The exhibition is not just a place to look; it invites visitors to get involved through workshops, discussions, and interactive formats. Topics such as bullying, exclusion, and digital violence are addressed and placed within a broader social context.

The works by Pascal Behrendt, John Herman, evdokia michailidou, Lala Randela, and Jane Spunk encompass painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, performance, sound poetry, and video art. The exhibition is complemented by music and subcultural perspectives that demonstrate how community and creative expression can create new spaces for belonging.

The exhibition aims to raise awareness of neurodiversity , promote inclusion and cultural participation , and make art a tangible catalyst for social dialogue.
