LEMONGRAB + BUNKERHÜREN
In the organizer's words:
Slow Club Presents: LEMONGRAB + BUNKERHÜREN
Garage Proto Art Pop Punk from Berlin + Anti Wave Kraut Punk from Munich
LEMONGRAB (Berlin, DE) is a four-piece garage punk band known for their raw, cathartic live performances and their art-punk-influenced studio albums.
Their influences range from the proto-punk escapades of the Stooges to the jangly earworms of The Clean, making picturesque detours into the offbeat pop hooks of Pylon along their journey into the rebellious territory of Bikini Kill.
The band is currently preparing for the release of “Another Kind of Freedom,” scheduled for September 11, 2026, via the boutique labels Mothland (CA) and Chrüsïmüsï Records (CH).
Originally formed in Montréal, QC, by visual artists and songwriters Gaëlle Cordeau (vocals) and Léonie Dishaw (guitar & vocals), Lemongrab first introduced their distinctive, punk-infused garage rock to the city’s thriving underground scene with the album “The Ones with the Brooms” (S/R, October 3, 2016).
The band then teamed up with Renny Wilson (Nap Eyes, La Sécurité, Faith Healer) to record “It Doesn’t Sound Good but It Feels Awesome” (S/R, January 31, 2019)—a debut album brimming with beautifully spasmodic rhythms and anachronistic melodies, crowned by anarchic vitality—before relocating to Berlin, Germany, in 2020.
Following their move to Germany came the release of “The Wet Album” (S/R, November 26, 2021), a six-song essay in which Lemongrab expressed their punk ethos even more strongly.
On February 28, 2024, the band released their second album, “I Spy with My Little Eye,” on the niche label U-Bac Records (DE).
Maggie McPhee of “Range” writes: “Since creative partners Gaëlle Cordeau and Léonie Dishaw moved from Montreal to Berlin in 2020, they’ve navigated through psychedelia, post-punk, and hard-hitting, old-school punk, constantly picking up new elements and musicians along the way. ISWMLE is a haphazard collage of these fragments—a bit rough around the edges, coated with a thick layer of lo-fi charm, and adorned with an ironic pink bow. Humor and catchy guitar melodies are present in equal measure.”
In their early days, Lemongrab played house concerts, at DIY venues (which have since closed), and at “Deep Dives” in their native Canada; later, they toured the United States, where they opened for the fuzz band Broncho in 2019.
Since moving overseas, they’ve refined their sound within the European underground scene, leaving a quick but lasting impression on the punk scene; in 2024, they returned to North America for a series of wonderfully screeching performances.
Since their formation, they’ve been invited to festivals such as Synästhesie Fest (Berlin, DE), Supersonic Block Party (Paris, FR), Jenseits von Millionen (Friedland, DE), Sled Island (Calgary, AB), and POP Montréal (QC), and have also shared the stage with acts like L.A. Witch, Bodega, Meatbodies, Das Beat, Cumgirl8, and Shame.
Experience LEMONGRAB’s new live lineup—Cordeau and Dishaw are now joined by Fritz Ali Hansen on bass and Joris Bo Monty on drums—as they perform songs from “Another Kind of Freedom” at an alternative music venue near you!

The BUNKERHÜREN are a three-piece band from Munich who, around 1993, were grabbed by the scruff of the neck by an unseen hand, dragged into a World War II bunker, and locked inside.
Ever since, the BUNKERHÜREN have been pondering there what the Krautrock of the future should sound like.
Church bells, weight-loss cures, BUNKERHÜREN!
