Fola Dada
Fola Dada is a singer who is at home in many musical styles. In 2022, she was awarded the German Jazz Prize as the best German singer. In addition to her extensive concert schedule—including performances with the SWR Big Band and Helmut Hattler’s band—she also teaches as a professor at the Mannheim University of Music. The singer Fola Dada is an extraordinary artist whose life and career are marked by passion, versatility, and authenticity.

As the 2022 winner of the German Jazz Prize in the “National Vocal” category, Fola Dada has made a name for herself in the music scene. But her talents are not limited to the stage. She is also a sought-after instructor who has taught at several universities and serves as a professor of jazz vocals at the HfMDK Mannheim. In addition, she runs her own vocal school, the Stimmwerk, where she shares her extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for the human voice with her students.

Fola Dada’s music is as diverse as her roots. As the daughter of a Nigerian father and a German mother, she blends jazz, Afrobeat, blues, electronic music, and soul into a sound all her own. This versatility makes her a celebrated musician who is at home in almost any style—whether soul, house, pop, or reggae, in German or English.

Her career began early, when she was captivated by tap dancing at the age of seven. Fred Astaire and others inspired her and led her to jazz. Many years later, the dancer became a singer, and one band followed another. After studying music in Mannheim, she became a vocal coach on Europe’s most successful talent show, a role she held for six seasons. This experience ultimately led her to open her own school, where she now imparts the fascination of singing with great passion and a clear philosophy. She is an artist who lives and teaches music with her heart and soul

Werner Acker (guitar, arrangements)
Werner Acker was a long-time lecturer at the Stuttgart University of Music and has been performing for many years as a soloist and sideman in various bands and musical styles. He has performed on numerous national and international festival and concert stages with his Roots Band, his Organ Trio alongside Thomas Bauser, with Kimi & the Soulmen, Peter Lehel, Ruth Sabadino, the Karl Frierson Soulprint Band, with Helen Schneider, with Jessye Norman, Ken Hensley, Chris Thompson, Fola Dada, Gaby Goldberg, with All That Jazz feat. Silvia Droste, with Wolfgang Dauner, with Thomas Sifflings’ Gentlemen’s Choice, and as a guest with the SWR Big Band feat. Jeff Cascaro / Paul Carrack / Gerald Clayton / the swing legends Paul Kuhn, Max Greger, and Hugo Strasser … . He has also appeared in numerous theater and musical productions, including alongside Ute Lemper. As a fixture of the jazz, soul, and blues scene, he is known for his stylistic diversity, excellent technique, and music performed with great feeling.

Thomas Bauser (Hammond organ)
Thomas Bauser has been a well-known figure in the jazz scene for many years as an authentic Hammond player. His enthusiasm for this iconic instrument constantly inspires him to explore the endless sonic possibilities of the analog Hammond organ, thereby lending a unique character to band projects spanning a wide range of styles. He plays/has played with Thomas Sifflings’ Souljazz Allstars, Louisiana Red, Jason Marshall, Al Jones, Adrian Mears … . He is also a lecturer in jazz piano at the State University of Music in Freiburg (Breisgau).

Herbert Wachter (Drums)
Herbert Wachter is the drummer for the world-famous brass ensemble “German Brass” (2016 Echo Award winner) and has contributed to numerous radio, TV, and CD productions. He plays/has played with, among others, the SWR Big Band, the Bobby Burges Big Band, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Don Menza, Paquito d’Rivera, Sandy Patton, Benny Bailey, and the Graubünden Chamber Philharmonic.
