Konzert: Brutal Verschimmelt / die Üblichen (Punkrock)

The cult punk rock classic “brutal verschimmelt” is celebrating its 45th anniversary and is heading out on its fifth tour of Germany. 

“brutal verschimmelt” was formed in the spring of 1981 in Kempten, Allgäu. With only 20 shows at the time, they barely ventured beyond the Allgäu region. After releasing their first LP in 1983, they broke up as early as 1984. Nevertheless, the LP by the Kempten punk band “brutal verschimmelt,” released in late 1983, has become a hidden gem in the German punk rock scene. 

The band’s fifth German tour in 2026 will take the former Allgäu band—which, by 1984, had only made it past the “Weißwurstäquator” once—across Germany once again. Singer Max is coming to Germany especially for this from California, USA; guitarist Klaus “Kölsi” from Berlin; and original guitarist Bernie from Frankfurt am Main. They’ll meet up in September with bassist Carlo and drummer Norm in Hanover. There, they’ll rehearse live together for a few days, and the first gigs will kick off on September 24.

In 2026—a good 45 years after their formation and following tours of Germany in 2013, 2014, 2022, and 2024—they’ll be back on the road in Germany, once again featuring their original guitarist. This “brutally moldy” revival was sparked by the re-release of their first LP in February 2013 on Höhnie Records—almost 30 years after their breakup in 1984. This inspired the musicians, scattered across the globe, to embark on what was supposed to be an LP release and farewell tour. But farewell, my foot: The Undead had gotten a taste for it and are now back on the road regularly.
