Kaffeekonzert № 1 »Fortissima! Meisterinnenwerke«
In the organizer's words:
Under the title “Fortissima! Masterpieces by Women Composers,” the Jena Philharmonic is spotlighting women composers in the first coffee concert of the season— whose works are fascinating yet still too rarely heard in concert halls. The overture by Duchess Anna Amalia of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach opens the afternoon with classical elegance. Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto, performed by Sophia Weidemann, combines youthful spirit with virtuosic expressiveness. Louise Farren and Emilie Mayer represent diferent aspects of the classical-romantic sinfonic tradition. Ida Moberg broadens the spectrum with lyrical, transparent timbres, while Dora Pejačević, with her richly colored late-Romantic orchestral language, opens our perspective to the very threshold of modernism. The result is a musical panorama spanning three centuries, which vividly brings to life the distinctiveness and diversity of the composers’ styles. As conductor and moderator, Friederike Kienle invites the audience to rediscover this musical heritage.
