#halbzwölf - Ruhrgebiets-Frühschoppen

When Peter Großmann welcomes his guests to a convivial morning beer on the #halbzwölf stage, the audience can rightly look forward to exceptional entertainment. Joining the lineup in August are former German goalkeeper Toni Schumacher and the band “the Silverettes.”

As one of the best goalkeepers of his era,Harald Anton “Toni” Schumacher(*1954)—who holds the record for most appearances with 1. FC Köln—is considered one of the most influential soccer players of the 1980s. He won the German championship twice and the Turkish championship once, as well as the DFB Cup three times. With the German national team, Schumacher—who was twice named “Germany’s Soccer Player of the Year”—became European champion in 1980 and World Cup runner-up in 1982 and 1986. In 1987, the publication of his book *Anpfiff*—in which he, among other things, alleged that doping was commonplace in the Bundesliga—sparked a scandal that marked the end of his time on the national team. After his playing career, Schumacher served as goalkeeper coach, head coach, and vice president of 1. FC Köln, among other roles.

The Silverettesare known for their distinctive blend of classic rockabilly sounds, modern rock ’n’ roll, and a dash of pop. Since 2011, the three Rockabellas from Essen have been wowing audiences with their rousing live shows, featuring energetic performances and a stage presence that is second to none. Whether it’s rockabilly classics, reimagined hits, or their own songs: with their energy, their distinctive ’50s look, and a healthy dose of sex appeal, “The Silverettes” get every audience dancing, singing along, and partying.

In the#halbzwölf series, which the well-known ARD host developed specifically for the Zollverein Foundation, Peter Großmann revives the Ruhr region’s lovely tradition of the “Frühschoppen.” “#halbzwölf is colorful, chaotic, and different every time. From music to cabaret to entertaining panel discussions, it has it all,” says the host, describing the format. Before, after, and throughout the event, there will be hearty snacks as well as cold and hot drinks—practically a “Frühschopp” just the way people in the Ruhr region like it!
