Fette Hupe Hannover goes bigband heroes - the genius of Maria Schneider

Die Fette Hupe is back from its summer break and pays tribute to its big band heroes. The September home concert will focus on the music of the incomparable Maria Schneider. She is undoubtedly still considered one of the most important figures in modern jazz orchestras, with an unmistakable, personal musical style. Through her internationally influential work and her significant commitment to musicians’ rights, she is a key role model and a source of inspiration for new generations in jazz. Her music brings images and emotions to life through sound—it’s no coincidence that Maria Schneider is among the few artists to have won Grammy Awards in various genres (including both jazz and classical).

Whether collaborating with well-known musicians such as Nils Wogram, Efrat Alony, Frederik Köster, Tamara Lukasheva, or Kalle Kalima; with guest artists from other disciplines such as the visual arts, theater, or dance; in the context of music education initiatives, such as her award-winning “Jazzcape-Room”; or simply on stage alone performing the compositions of the bandleader and band members: In over 260 concerts to date in Hanover and Lower Saxony, as well as at festivals throughout Germany, Die Fette Hupe has repeatedly and impressively demonstrated that it ranks among the most active big bands on the German jazz scene.
