From North Africa to Brandenburg
What do a Moroccan oasis, a Tunisian orange grove, and the falling groundwater level in Brandenburg have in common? 

As early as the end of May this year, calls were made in Germany to conserve water. Water scarcity is a global phenomenon—and conflicts over this scarce resource are intensifying, particularly in North Africa. But in Germany as well—especially in Brandenburg—the climate crisis is leading to water scarcity and conflicts over distribution. While issues of water distribution are a matter of survival in the arid regions of North Africa, in Brandenburg the focus is primarily on conflicts over water use between industry, agriculture, and drinking water supply.

As a result, water has already become a contested resource. The climate crisis is exacerbating the situation—both regionally and globally.
