In celebration of the 10th edition of Art Spring Berlin, one of the city’s most beloved and artist-driven festivals, this one-time tour proposes an exploration of artistic transformation across Pankow, Prenzlauer Berg, and Weißensee: from early expressionist legacies and post-industrial creative spaces to contemporary immersive practices and open studio culture.
The route would begins at the culturally significant Brotfabrik arts center before moving past the former Ignatz site: a once-vast Jewish brewery later replaced by luxury apartments. From there, the tour would continue through a curated selection of Art Spring open studios and atelier clusters, offering encounters with working artists and the diverse practices currently shaping the district.
Drawing on the tour guide’s longstanding connection to the area as both a guide and former resident artist, this walk aims to offer a more intimate and layered perspective on the neighborhood’s evolving artistic identity.
The latter portion of the tour would shift toward contemporary immersive and experiential approaches within art, culminating in a final exhibition or installation connected to expanded sensory or spatial practices.
The tour is conceived not only as an introduction to Art Spring, but also as a reflection on artistic continuity in Berlin: how communities form, disappear, rebuild, and continue creating within an ever-changing urban landscape.
