Our culture of remembrance must change. Susanne Siegert explains how and why in this book. She argues for a pluralistic, new form of remembrance with a focus on the responsibility of the descendants of the generation of perpetrators instead of our "rehearsed" joint review with the victims. It is about lesser-known Nazi crimes, lesser-known places and previously neglected groups of victims. At the same time, this book shows how important a more active, more diverse culture of remembrance is in order to reach future generations even without direct eyewitness accounts.
Susanne Siegert, born in 1992, is a journalist and one of the best-known voices in the digital culture of remembrance in Germany.
