ZOMBIE SESSIONS VOL. 88 mit BRETTERN, STRANGER THAN PARADISE und INDIREKT GRELL
In the organizer's words:
ZOMBIE SESSIONSis a concert series organized by musicians for musicians on a nonprofit and DIY basis. Since 2013, it has aimed to create fair performance opportunities and spaces for both well-known and unknown music outside the mainstream. While the ZOMBIE SESSIONS span multiple genres, the focus is on the harder styles of rock (punk, hardcore, metal, noise, grunge, stoner, etc.—or any sound that can’t really be categorized into a specific genre), but jazz, pop, and hip-hop, for example, have also been featured.
The ZOMBIE SESSIONS are not only a labor of love for the people behind them, but also an effort to contribute to Munich’s musical subculture and to connect it—both internally and externally—with artists from all over Europe.
That’s why the ZOMBIE SESSIONS are the perfect opportunity for music lovers to experience bands from Munich, Germany, and abroad up close. The ZOMBIE SESSIONS invite you to immerse yourself in a relaxed, intimate atmosphere and simply let yourself be carried away by energetic, sweat-inducing, and sometimes wild concerts. With a low admission price, the ZOMBIE SESSIONS—which take place at the Glockenbachwerkstatt, Kafe Kult, or Sunny Red/Feierwerk—are also easily accessible to a wide audience.
All artists and bands who’d like to perform at the ZOMBIE SESSIONS should take a look at theband guidelinesand get in touch via emailat zombie.sessions@gmail.comso we can start planning…
...and then all that’s left to do is wait and drink some Spezi.
THE ACTS
Brettern| Noise, Punk
Munich
BRETTERNis postmodern, informal noise with a time-based experimental framework. You’ve been carrying a piece of candy around in your pocket for quite some time. It’s so old that the wrapper has worn through in some places, and the markings and writing have been worn away from sliding back and forth in your pants pocket. When you open it, the wrapper sticks to the object of your desire, and lint and tobacco residue have collected around the slightly open package. Dirt has seeped deep beneath the wrapper, and you wonder if you can even eat it anymore. The color has faded from the top sticky, dirty layer. You decide to eat the treat; you know you can lick the top layer—which has absorbed the dirt—and scrape it off with your teeth to separate the unpleasant part from the still-good center, grimacing as you spit it out. You then enjoy the rest of the candy with only half a smile, and in the end, you even start chewing so you can get to the spot quickly and swallow the sludge (Source: Organizers)
Stranger than Paradise| Post-punk
Munich

Indirekt Grell| Post-punk
Germany
INDIREKT GRELLis, in a way, post-punk in a classic trio lineup, yet their sound comes as a surprise at first. The young group from the southern German countryside focuses primarily on artistic expression. Anything goes—whatever they like or whatever simply comes to mind. The lyrics are abstract, and the music ranges from ethereal soundscapes to booming DIY noise. Live, the sound is both ethereal and gripping—vague yet concrete. Total chaos, then sudden simplicity… Their album“ins Exil”was released on the young Munich-based label new basement and was recorded entirely live in an air-raid shelter in Munich. The album is strongly influenced by the band’s development through their performances over the past two years. (Source: Event organizer)
