Zechenfest - Feiern mit Herz
In the organizer's words:
At the Zechenfest, people from Essen and the entire Ruhr region come together to celebrate: For two days, the Zollverein UNESCO World Heritage Site is transformed into an entertainment hub for young and old alike, featuring concerts, dance performances, stage shows, and much more!
On both days, clubs, institutions, and businesses from the Zollverein neighborhood will be showcasing themselves at numerous booths and stalls on the mine grounds. Stages featuring music from a variety of genres will create a lively atmosphere. Of course, there are special activities for young guests, exciting contests, and culinary delights from northern Essen and other parts of the world. Numerous activities, such as exhibitions and guided tours, are free of charge.
As is tradition, the Zechenfest program offers many opportunities to explore the former coal mine: on an exciting guided tour along the Zollverein Heritage Trail, a visit to the Ruhr Museum, or a tour of the Portal of Industrial Culture in the former coal-washing plant.
