With these words, Vladimir Jurowski, GMD of the Bavarian State Opera, said goodbye after the last concert with der/gelbe/klang in November 2024. Now the time has come: Jurowski is returning to the ensemble and back to the heavy rider.
Jurowski brings his artistic precision, his experience and his openness to a music that thrives on experimentation, playfulness and intellectual wit. An ideal combination for today's program - Mauricio Kagel's "The Pieces of the Wind Rose". Kagel's work is one of the most unconventional and at the same time most impressive ensemble pieces of the late 20th century. In eight movements, the composer allows the cardinal points to have their say musically - from "North" to "Southwest". An imaginary journey around the world, characterized by timbres, rhythms and ironic refractions. Kagel works with expectation and surprise, with collisions of styles and sounds.
