Vernissage „Damals, Heute, Morgen.“ – Jubiläumsausstellung des Frauenmuseum Bonn

In the organizer's words:

With this anniversary exhibition, the Frauenmuseum Bonn - the first museum of its kind in the world - looks back on 45 years of feminist museum practice. Starting from its foundation in 1981, the exhibition tells the story of the museum's beginnings, provides insights into the museum's current work and at the same time opens up a space for questions about the future development of activist museum work.

Works from the collection, positions from the museum's network, contributions by younger contemporary artists and materials from our own archive reveal what our museum and those involved have been working on over the decades - then, now and in the future.

We cordially invite you to the vernissage on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 2 pm!

With contributions from:
Nicole Unterseh, Mayor (greeting)
Elfi Scho-Antwerpes, Deputy Chairwoman of the Rhineland Regional Assembly (greeting)
Dr. Claudia Emmert, Director of the Kunstmuseum Bonn (opening speech)
Marianne Pitzen, founder and director of the Frauenmuseum Bonn (welcoming address)
Julia Heintz, curator (insight into the exhibition)

Afterwards, we cordially invite you to a champagne reception, a joint tour of the exhibition and discussions with the artists.

Special thanks to the LVR for funding this project!
