Behind the Green Door Showcase
KYOTARO MIULA
Krautrock | Tokyo, Japan
KYOTARO MIULA is one of the central representatives of the international neo-krautrock movement. As the creative head of Minami Deutsch, he develops hypnotic soundscapes between motoric groove, repetitive minimal music and psychedelic ecstasy. Inspired by classic krautrock, cosmic music and experimental improvisation, his performances unfold a trance-like maelstrom that uniquely combines the past and present of the genre. (Source: artist)
MARJA BURCHARD
Krautrock | Munich
MARJA BURCHARD, one of the most exciting voices in the German experimental and world music scene, brings Embryo's vision into the present. As a multi-instrumentalist, she moves effortlessly between krautrock, free jazz, psychedelic improvisation and global rhythm traditions - always open, curious and uncompromisingly musical. Their concerts combine hypnotic grooves, free sound research and collective energy to create an intense live experience between tradition and new beginnings. (Source: Artist)
SIMON POPP
Jazz, Ambient, Electronica | Munich
The Munich-based percussionist and composer SIMON POPP beats his way through polyrhythmic structures with a keen sense of timing and mood. He contrasts earthy and airy sounds, blurs the boundaries between the electronic and acoustic worlds and makes a powerful statement about what contemporary percussion music can be. POPP studied jazz percussion in Munich and, with his solo work and projects such as "Fazer", "9ms", "Poeji" and "Polygonia & Simon Popp", moves at the interfaces of jazz, ambient and electronic music. His solo albums "Laya", "Devi" and "Blizz" were well received internationally, especially in the vinyl scene.
The Line Of Best Fit praised him as follows: "this is music you can get totally lost in, where the lines between organic and electric are blurred so as to be indistinguishable". In addition to recognition from magazines such as Clash, Juno and Ransom Note, Bleep felt reminded of the music of experimental greats Philip Glass and Steve Reich.
In 2023, SIMON POPP was awarded the Förderpreis für Musik der Landeshauptstadt München. In 2025 he was nominated for the German Jazz Award. (Source: Artist)
HODO GAIA
Krautrock, Psychedelic | Munich
HODO GAIA create musical landscapes between krautrock, avant-garde pop, psychedelic improvisation and global influences. The Munich-based formation combines repetitive motor skills, free structures and cinematic timbres to create a sound that is simultaneously raw, mystical and highly hypnotic. Their concerts unfold like collective journeys - between trance-like grooves, eruptive noise moments and floating beauty - carried by an international line-up of musicians from the European psych, jazz and experimental scene.
