The Third Garden
In the organizer's words:
An angel lands in hell. Although, she’s not really an angel anymore. She’s a fallen angel, and maybe hell is something else entirely. What else could this place be? What other places are there? A home? A refuge? A garden? Besides the Garden of Eden and the Garden of Delights, this would probably be the third.
A fallen angel lands in the third garden. She sleeps, and we see her dream: the fall from heaven, a confrontation with God? But what is she doing now in this strange place? Unknown allies and old friends want to show her the way in her new, self-determined life.
Vicky Prägant’s thesis for her Master’s degree in Applied Theater Studies explores queer identity. Structured as an allegory, it examines the relationship between queer—particularly trans* and non-binary—people and supposed higher, powerful authorities. Here, God is the father of the angels, the institutionalized Christian church, and a strict gardener. The fallen angel, on the other hand, is a queer person, an indomitable plant, and the “unnatural.”
Where do I end up when I find myself outside of what many people understand as “natural” or “God-given”? What can this place be or become for me?
