From February 19, 2027 and during the renovation phase of the Staatsgalerie until probably 2034 , we will be showing our outstanding 20th century collection in the art building on Schlossplatz.
The strictly chronological order of the interim presentation, sorted by decade, brings together paintings and sculptures that are coming together in this form for the first time. This opens up new perspectives on our collection. We are transforming the special rooms of the Kunstgebäude into "time capsules" in which the public can experience the highlights of the decades from 1900 to 1970.
The presentation in the Kunstgebäude impressively illustrates the connections between contemporary events and artistic works and places historical events in the context of current issues. In this way, provenance research, the history of our collection and the lack of female positions in our holdings, even in the 20th century, become visible through the originals.
