Dance world premiere by Maura Morales

"In my choreography, I reflect the concept of mono no aware - the gentle sensitivity towards transience. It describes the melancholic sadness that comes over us when we realize the fragility of the world and of life. But this realization also enables us to experience the beauty of the moment more intensely, precisely because it is so fleeting. For me, it's about the tension between mourning the fleeting and appreciating the moment. It is a confrontation with the knowledge of the end, which makes the moment bittersweet, but can also enhance its beauty. In this dichotomy, I find a deep, emotional truth that accompanies me both in literature and in life and that has also shaped Michio's life, who as a composer and life partner is an important companion on this journey towards the dance evening Mono no aware."

Cuban-born Maura Morales analyzes the fragility of life against the backdrop of our new present, in which new world orders are emerging, chaos, global flashpoints and the return of war are becoming a new normality. Humanity is at a turning point. What do we still have to prepare for?

The choreography explores the fleeting beauty of life and the fragile resistance that erupts in the midst of conflict and social disruption, shows the fragility of the human condition and the constant threat to the world and becomes a meditation on becoming and passing away as darkness draws ever closer.

Their collaboration combines creative disciplines in a unique way and creates an impressive interplay of sound and movement that raises the audience's perception and experience to a new level.
