Matinee: Carme López solo

In the organizer's words:

How can you rethink a well-known instrument and age-old traditions - and possibly in a completely different way? Carme López from Galicia shows how: inspired by experimental artists such as Éliane Radigue and Pauline Oliveros, she explored the Galician bagpipe on her debut album "Quintela" from March 2024 and elicited an experimental sound from the instrument traditionally attributed to men, which can be described more as drones and ambient spheres than folklore. In the fall, López then released an album by her vocal project Carmela, "Vinde Todas". "Vinde Todas" is based on her ethnographic research into the oral singing traditions of Galicia, their thematic, rhythmic and aesthetic diversity and the gender perspective in the transmission of these songs. Whether bagpipes or singing: Carme López combines tradition, the present and a look into the future to create an exciting overall experience.
