At ExtraSchicht, art and coal merge into a multi-layered experience between past and present. The exhibition by Gregor Hildebrandt, who works with cassette tapes and records to create pictures, sculptures and installations, unfolds in the gallery.
His works combine visible structures with invisible traces of sound - minimal art meets personal memories and pop-cultural resonances.
Entertaining guided tours invite visitors to delve deeper into this special visual language and at the same time discover the history of the RUTTKOWSKI;68 gallery, which reflects the cultural transformation of the location. This is complemented by a look at the industrial past of the Ruhr area and the development from a mining region to a vibrant cultural landscape. In front of the gallery, beats and cool drinks create a summer festival atmosphere. Light installations bathe the building in atmospheric colors, while fine culinary offerings await in the inner courtyard.
