Konzert: Focus Pocus

In the organizer's words:

Since their formation in 2020, Focus Pocus have been inspired by bands such as NOVEMBRE, Kartet, Octurn and Amok Amor. The instrumental quartet explores connections between contemporary music, jazz and electro and works with stylistic devices from street art and beat: sampling, looping and collaging. In a minimalist approach, the musicians draw on improvisations, loops, textures and fragmented melodies from their shared repertoire. Each element is shifted, steered in other directions and manipulated to the extreme with an infectious joy of music. These spontaneous compositions give rise to frenetic, ever-changing sound images reminiscent of Basquiat. Boundless sound becomes spectral pauses, the urgency of the playing and the unwavering commitment of the musicians serve the clarity of the statement and the brilliance of the expression.
