Knit in Public Day

In the organizer's words:

On the worldwide "Knit in Public Day", we will be knitting together in and around the Gustav Werner Forum in Reutlingen's Bürgerpark from 2 pm.

Meet like-minded people with a shared passion for needlework, knit together, have fun and make new friends - on Knit in Public Day, people from all over the world come together to show their love of knitting in public and, in the best case scenario, to arouse curiosity for this creative and relaxing hobby. The gatherings on this day are organized by clubs, wool stores or private individuals.

In Reutlingen, the Gustav Werner Forum Museum is hosting the "Knit in Public Day" on Saturday, June 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. in and around the former "Krankenhäusle". Everyone is welcome to come along and take part in knitting. Of course you can also crochet, embroider, spin, felt, sew, etc.

Info wall for regional knitting meetings

The Knit in Public Day aims to bring together "craftspeople" and initiatives, make the regional offerings more visible and give people the opportunity to get to know each other and "network". Knitting clubs therefore have the opportunity to provide information about their dates, meeting points, contact details, etc. or to display flyers if available. Anyone who wants to set up a knitting club in their town also has the opportunity to look for interested fellow members.

Opportunity to swap yarn

Knit in Public Day also offers the opportunity to swap yarns. After all, who hasn't experienced it - with larger projects, there are often balls of yarn left over or the brilliant idea for the yarn that has been in storage for some time just won't come. When swapping yarn, it's important to ensure that it is and remains a pleasure for everyone - please only bring appropriate quantities of good quality yarn. Any leftover yarn will be donated to "Flotte Nadeln mit Herz".

The Gustav Werner Forum can provide a limited number of tables and chairs for outdoor seating. If you like, you are welcome to bring your own camping chairs, picnic blankets, etc.

The exhibition on the early history of industry and social welfare in Reutlingen and the region in the Gustav Werner Forum Museum will be open during the "Knit in Public Day".

Public parking spaces are available in the immediate vicinity of the Krankenhäusle or in the underground parking garage of the Stadthalle. The Gustav Werner Forum is also just a few minutes' walk from the main train station and the central bus station.
