A memorial concert featuring the shamisen, harmonium, and electronic taishogoto on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Museum Fünf Kontinente
Japanese shamisen virtuoso Maya Yamao and Munich-based pianist and composer Masako Ohta will present a memorial concert marking the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, combining traditional Japanese shamisen music Japanese melodies with harmonium and electronic taishogoto.
Maya Yamao is a fellow at Villa Waldberta from July through September 2026.
