Emily Intsiful is arguably the most prominent student currently at the Jazzinstitut Berlin. Her warm, soulful voice, her stage presence, and her versatility are truly unique and owe much to her diverse experiences on stage and in the world of music—notably her many years as a backup singer for Nena. This evening, she’ll present a brand-new program: her personal tribute to Nina Simone, with whom she shares so much in common. After all, Nina Simone—a trained classical pianist with a natural gospel background—was an absolute standout in the worlds of jazz and soul and far beyond, with songs that stuck in your head and got your feet moving.
