Inhabiting Cracks at the End of Time - Against Accelerations

In the organizer's words:

The art and photography exhibition in the Tankturm explores the apocalyptic nature of borders, with a particular focus on their spatial and temporal dimensions. Borders are places defined by the colonial-capitalist system, inherently marked by the displacement of indigenous communities and their languages and cultures, as well as the exclusion of other people. Through the creative works of current CAPAS Fellows Federico Cuatlacuatl and Luis Hernan, the exhibition uses (moving) images of apocalyptic experiences to challenge the colonial logics that limit our vision of alternative futures. From the forced displacement of individuals to the destruction of ecosystems justified by utopian promises, the works delve into the affective realm of the apocalypse and the creation of “non-places” that function as gateways to other worlds. Set along the border between Mexico and the United States, this immersive exhibition invites visitors to view the future through a different lens and makes socially relevant research emotionally tangible, thereby making it accessible to a broad audience.
