Ancient thoughts cast in new music: "Il Cantico della Stella Nostra" (Song of Praise of our Home Star) is a new look at St. Francis of Assisi on the 800th anniversary of his death (3.10. 2026). Henning Sieverts, internationally renowned bassist, cellist and composer, considers St. Francis' "Il Cantico di Frate Sole" (Song of Praise of Brother Sun) from the 13th century as a source of courage in discouraged times: We are all connected as brothers and sisters - humans, animals, plants, planets. The sun (which is now increasingly burning us up) remains our home star, giving us light and life. Without it, we would not exist - what a gift and what a responsibility.
The musical instrumentation of this world premiere is "un-heard" with solo double bass & double quartet: a vocal quartet (soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor, baritone) and a string quartet (two violins, viola, cello) meet variably and also flexibly in the concert space.
