UPDATE: Unfortunately, the historic maritime Matjestage event scheduled for June 27 and 28, 2026, will not take place due to the current heat warnings and the recommendations of the German Weather Service. The safety of our visitors, participants, and staff is our top priority—we look forward to reviving the event next year.

On June 27 and 28, 2026, the Vegesack Matjes Days will return in a new format. A lively historical maritime village will spring up around the Utkiek, featuring arts and crafts, music, hands-on activities, market stalls, and performers from days gone by.

A special highlight is the traditional matjes herring landing on Saturday, followed by a tasting. There’s also plenty for families and children to discover on both days.

Look forward to a unique weekend full of history, maritime atmosphere, and authentic Vegesack tradition.
