Heilbronner Poetry Slam – Poetry vs. Comedy

Maschinenfabrik and Kreissparkasse Heilbronn present a showdown between two stage worlds. At the big poetry vs. comedy special of the Heilbronn Poetry Slam, two art forms collide: word art against stand-up, profundity against punchline and goosebumps against a flash of laughter.

Sometimes thought-provoking, sometimes completely over the top, but guaranteed never boring. As always, the audience decides in the end: who will win - poetry or comedy?

At a poetry slam, self-written literature (poetry) is performed on a stage in a competition (slam). The audience is also the jury and decides whether the slam poets win or lose, e.g. by applause. The texts are sometimes lyrical and sometimes humorous, sometimes rhymed and sometimes rapped, sometimes critical and sometimes Dadaist. The audience is a colorful mix - from young people to pensioners, the poetry slams cast a spell over many people. The event form originated in Chicago in 1986 and spread worldwide in the 1990s. The German-speaking slam scene is considered the second largest in the world after the English-speaking one.
