Lena Christ's "Memoirs of a Superfluous Woman" - an evening of theater about survival.

After a happy childhood with her grandparents in Glonn, eight-year-old Lena Christ joins her mother at the inn in Munich, where from then on she has to lend a hand in the kitchen and in the restaurant as free labor in the family business. What initially feels like a gift quickly turns into a nightmare. Her mother doesn't allow her a good day. The "Wirtsleni" suffers from her mother's indifference and brutal abuse. She repeatedly tries to break out, returning to the inn and her mother time and again.

After a failed marriage and three children, she manages to start a new life - a life as a writer. Sitting on a park bench in front of the Alte Pinakothek, she begins to write down her life. Her first book, "Memories of a Superfluous Woman", tells the story of a little girl who races the wind and tries to outshout it. It is about her mother's violent oppression, her husband's beatings, but also about courageous resistance, about not giving up - and about survival.

Over 100 years later, Annette Paulmann sets out in search of Lena Christ and rediscovers her own childhood - and what it was like in the inn with her mother... An associative evening of theater about two biographies that explores the abysses of exploitation, dependence and love: we can decide many things, but not who our mother is - and remains.
