Joan Baez (1941) – The legendary voice and conscience of the 1960s and the peace demonstrations, American singer, civil rights activist, and peace activist. She is also known as the >Queen of Folk Music<, >, the >Militant Nightingale< oder >, and the . A strong, charismatic woman who has raised her voice in many of the world’s war zones and fearlessly advocates for civil disobedience and nonviolence.
A woman who passionately championed peace, human rights, and solidarity—and who continues to speak out to this day. “We shall overcome, some day” has lost none of its relevance even today.

With thisseries of events, we aim to highlight and bring to life the diversity of women’s lives. We offer those interested a cultural space for encounter and exchange. Biographies of women from society, the arts, the church, academia, and more will inspire us to reflect on and share our own life events and deeply personal experiences.
Over the course of four evenings, we’ll gain insights into the lives of four different women, led byfacilitator Beate Mönkedieck(a certified educator with many years of experience in adult education and as a women’s and gender equality officer). With this series, she aims to bring invisible and forgotten women back into the spotlight and give them a voice. How much courage, strength, vision, and creativity lie gathering dust in archives and old files? Bringing them to light, restoring them to the collective memory, learning from their life stories, exposing male dominance, and giving women the public space to claim their own power—this continually motivates us to go in search of clues and share them with others.
