Dortmund aus Taubenperspektive - ein Stadtspaziergang mit der Stadttaubenhilfe Dortmund/Lünen e.V.
In the organizer's words:
Hello, everyone,
Unfortunately, we’ve decided to cancel tomorrow’s walk as originally planned. With this weather, even our members are out of commission, so most of the team won’t be able to make it. 🙁
In addition, it’s very likely that the pigeons will also stay indoors that day to avoid the heat. 🐦
As a result, we wouldn’t be able to achieve our intended goal. We also don’t want to increase the risk of heatstroke or sunstroke. ☀️
Since our cancellation notice probably won’t reach everyone, two members of our team will be on site.
For those who do show up, they’ll offer conversations, a walk, and, if necessary, a small water activity for the pigeons—but not in the originally planned format (with 6 team members). If you’d still like to participate, please bring clean disposable containers, such as Tetra Paks, small bowls, etc.
We hope you can understand. The team is already working on setting a new date. ❤️🩹
All the best 🕊️

🐦 City Pigeon Walk with Stadttaubenhilfe Dortmund/Lünen e.V. 🐦
What is life really like for city pigeons in Dortmund? Where do they come from, what challenges do they face in their daily lives, and how can we help them?
Stadttaubenhilfe Dortmund/Lünen e.V. invites you to an informative walking tour through downtown Dortmund on June 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Together, we’ll take a look at the lives of city pigeons and discuss topics such as:
• The origin and history of city pigeons
• The situation of pigeons in Dortmund
• Common injuries and illnesses
• Deterrent measures and their effects
• Our work in pigeon conservation and caring for animals in need
• How to handle injured, sick, or orphaned pigeons
During the walk, we’ll respond spontaneously to situations we encounter. If we spot injured or unusual pigeons, we’ll show you how we handle such cases. Since this depends on the circumstances at the time, the exact procedure may vary.
Through photos and firsthand accounts from our daily animal welfare work, we’d like to give you a glimpse into the often-hidden world of urban pigeons and answer questions about these frequently misunderstood animals.
We look forward to welcoming everyone interested—whether you already have experience with pigeons or simply want to learn more about our feathered neighbors.
