TV meteorologist Margaret Fairchild (Emily Blunt) is suddenly haunted by an unexplained phenomenon during a live TV appearance. While the authorities try to cover up the fact that aliens could be behind it, activist Daniel Kellner (Josh O'Connor) wants to inform the world about the truth by any means necessary.
