Secret Night Gang
From Manchester for you at the start: Secret Night Gang! The band discovered by Gilles Peterson and put together in this great ensemble plays from their last two releases and was nominated by Jazzfm as the best band of the year in 2021. Look forward to British street soul with fresh influences!
The very best thing: For us, the whole thing goes full circle again, because SNG were already booked in 2024, but were never able to leave England due to broken airport computers. Now it works and we are super excited!!!

Polarbæren X La Nefera
When we got to know POLARBÆREN, they were "still" participants of JJO.ch and we had the great honor of inviting them to our session. In a nutshell: their own project, serious topics of our time, a completely unique, abnormally rare mix with an electronic, thick sound. With La Nefera, the blend expands further: climate jazz meets Latin rap.

Theodor
Theodor is a band that makes slightly psychedelic soul, music that sounds warm, dreamy and groovy at the same time, without being complicated. Their songs feel a bit like a calm summer day, with gentle grooves, synthesizers that have that characteristic "vintagea vibe" and soulful vocals,
at least that's how we would describe the sound^^
🐈 the band name goes back to a 24 year old cat that was part of the first recordings. The band is currently on tour along the US West Coast, bringing their sound to the international stage, but will be back in time for the bunt oder blau festival on 22 August in Dortmund hehe.

Youth Jazz Orchestra of Switzerland
In their current program No Bystanders, the Jugendjazzorchester.ch addresses a central question of our time: What happens when we just watch?
Under the direction of Benjamin Weidekamp and Michael Haves, over 20 young musicians from all over Switzerland develop music that addresses social tensions, personal conflicts and political issues without moralizing, but with sharpness, humour and great energy. Compositions by South African-Norwegian musician Shannon Mowday, among others, create a multi-layered sound between big band, experiment and collective expression.
A JJO concert is not just a performance.
It is a collective state.
