Bühne, Beats & Beete: Lesebühne auf dem Solawi-Acker

PICK OF THE DAY

You cannot miss this event.

In the organizer's words:

Solawi Düsseldorf is taking on a whole new dimension this summer: With “Bühne, Beats & Beete,” we’re bringing culture to our space in Südpark! Whether you’re a member, just curious, or a culture lover—we warmly invite everyone who’s looking forward to some great evenings among the vegetable beds. Our small event series brings together community, creativity, and work in the fields.

The first event in the series: Tuesday, August4, 2026 | Open-air reading stage:
Doors open: 6:00 p.m. | Start: 7:00 p.m.

We take “culture in agriculture” literally: readings and literature right in the middle of the vegetable garden! Our guests are two Düsseldorf originals: Bernard Hoffmeister and Dietlind Falk. They’ll be bringing their latest books, which explore the Rhine and Ruhr regions in their own unique ways:

Bernard plunges us right into a wonderfully over-the-top whirlwind of millennial anxieties, college madness, Düsseldorf, and the endless search for meaning with his debut, “Benjamin im Stroboskop.” Dietlind brings her latest novel, “No Regrets”: a raunchy, fast-paced, and damn funny homage to freedom, friendship, and a somewhat run-down tattoo parlor in the Ruhr region.

The Solidarity Principle (Pay What You Can)

Just like the Solawi itself, our cultural evenings operate on the principle of solidarity: voluntary contributions—whoever comes pays what they can. At the end of each evening, a hat is passed around. The donations fund the current event and make the next one possible. Food and drinks: Snacks and beverages are provided on-site. Every purchase directly supports our project. However, you’re also welcome to bring your own food and drinks.
