A DECLARATION OF LOVE
The revue *Berlin, You Cool Bitch* takes you on a journey through the last 100 years of this city’s turbulent history. “And Berlin was Sodom and Gomorrah,” wrote Bertolt Brecht in 1928 about what was then the world’s third-largest metropolis. Berlin has remained that way to this day—a sleepless refuge for countless wanderers in search of adventure.
The journey through time begins at the Luna Park of the 1920s and ends at Berlin’s Berghain club today. This musical journey through the ages was developed by the two singers Sharon Brauner (lyrics/concept) and Meta Hüper (musical direction), who are accompanied by the renowned Capital Dance Orchestra.
From swing to the Love Parade, from Marlene Dietrich to Seeed: “Berlin, Du coole Sau” builds a musical bridge from the golden era to the sparkling present of this unique city.
The story is experienced through the eyes of a Berlin restroom attendant: Adele—played by the quintessential Berliner Ades Zabel—tells the story of Berlin’s legendary nightlife, starting in the 1920s and continuing into the 2020s. Always with her finger on the pulse of the times, she recounts—with typical Berlin bluntness—the metropolis’s highs and lows, from the construction of the Wall to its fall, and the trash and glamour of that special blend that makes Berlin so unique.
The Capital Dance Orchestra, together with the wonderful singers Meta Hüper and Sharon Brauner, presents a spectacular evening featuring music, wit, burlesque dance, and Ades Zabel in film clips
