A stairwell, five apartments and neighbors who hardly know each other - but constantly meet: Paula lives with her best friend Fabi in a shared flat. She is secretly in love with the new neighbor Gerard from apartment 4, but doesn't dare approach him. Fabi tries to help her, while he himself develops feelings for Lydia from apartment 1.

Janitor Mrs. Fritsch watches over everything, seeing everything, hearing everything and immediately commenting on every rumor. As more new residents move in and relationships, misunderstandings and old family stories overlap, the stairwell becomes increasingly turbulent.

Parties are planned, declarations of love are rehearsed, identities are confused and truths are concealed. In the process, surprising connections come to light, old conflicts break open and new closeness emerges - door to door, step by step.
