Spring Breeze Flow on Timeless Strings

In diesem Konzert erkunden wir die große stilistische Bandbreite der chinesischen Guzheng: von den geheimnisvollen Nachklängen alter Guqin-Bearbeitungen bis hin zur lebendigen Energie moderner Popmusik und zeitgenössischer Werke. Im Zusammenspiel mit Klavier und Operngesang entsteht ein musikalischer Dialog zwischen Tradition und Gegenwart, zwischen fernöstlichen Klangwelten und westlichen Ausdrucksformen.

“Spring Breeze Flow on Timeless Strings” invites you on a musical journey through the rich heritage of the box zither, with a focus on the versatile Chinese Guzheng. While the instrument shares a common ancestry with the Japanese Koto, the Arabic Kanun, and the Western Zither, this performance highlights the Guzheng’s unique ability to resonate across cultures and ages.

The program explores the instrument’s expansive stylistic range: from the haunting echoes of ancient Guqin adaptations to the vibrant energy of modern pop and contemporary works. Accompanied by piano and operatic vocals, the concert builds a bridge between tradition and innovation, culminating in a multilingual reinterpretation of the Taiwanese folk classic “Longing for the Spring Breeze” (望春風).
