Schwemme

The Schwemme in Halle (Saale) is a special place for culture, encounters and working together. In the former historic brewery, an open third place has been emerging step by step for many years, supported by voluntary commitment, building culture and the idea of making spaces permanently accessible for communal use. Between construction site, monument and event venue, an environment is developing here that is deliberately allowed to remain imperfect and brings many people together precisely because of this.

Concerts, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, film evenings and community formats take place regularly in the Schwemme. At the same time, the Schwemme is also a place of learning and a hands-on construction site: at work assignments, clay building workshops and open formats, people don't just watch, but also tackle, build and try things out together. Many events combine culture, crafts, exchange and communal dining or get-togethers by the river.

The various rooms and outdoor areas offer space for a wide range of uses - from small meetings and seminars to larger cultural events. The special atmosphere of the historic industrial architecture, the direct location on the Saale and the close connection between cultural use and ongoing renovation make the Schwemme a place with its own character.

The Schwemme is a non-profit organization. Income from donations and events helps to further develop the venue, make public events possible and secure the extensive restoration of the listed building in the long term. We are particularly happy to receive donations to finance our FSJ volunteers.
