It’s often said that background and gender don’t matter in medicine. “As a queer, non-white gynecologist, I’m acutely aware of discrimination in everyday hospital life—I experience it almost every day,” saysMertcan Usluer, a doctor, journalist, and content creator.

In an accessible, honest, and down-to-earth way, he uses Instagram to shed light on topics that are often overlooked in everyday clinical practice—and in doing so, reaches hundreds of thousands of people.
