Workshop and Kickoff for the Algorithm Invasion Against the Digital Masculinity Craze

As part of our multi-project initiative MAKE CYBER PUNK AGAIN, we invite you to join us in digital activism:

How do radicalization processes unfold online, and what can we do about them? What lies behind the many videos in which men encourage each other to “swallow” their feelings and despise women?

In the summer of 2024, onlinetheater.live infiltrated anti-feminist content bubbles on TikTok with MYKE, a video campaign developed specifically for this purpose. Amid dating tips, self-improvement marketing, and fantasies of male dominance, the artists wove counter-narratives to the prevailing image of masculinity—with impressive results and reactions.

Their workshop now focuses on target audiences, language, video aesthetics, and storytelling—and on how you yourself can become actively involved in “cyberspace” in a sustainable way and hijack the algorithm.

As participants, you’ll learn to hack into the “manosphere” on TikTok and, with minimal effort, create content that targets the same audiences but promotes mindfulness of one’s own feelings and encourages reflection and action.

This workshop, part of our multi-project initiative MAKE CYBER PUNK AGAIN, serves as both a foundation and an invitation to form a “hacker gang” together—one that will collectively advance the knowledge and activism gained from the workshop digitally in the coming months, while regularly exchanging ideas, supporting one another, and staying motivated.
