Wohnzimmerlesung: Saloon – Das ist Familiensache

Literature doesn't need a big stage. All you need is a living room, a good host and a drink that you bring yourself, and the listening can begin. So it's all the more fitting when the protagonists in literature also enter the living room. In the comic "Saloon - Das ist Familiensache" by Mia Oberländer, the grandmother invites us to a family celebration. And unfortunately, we all know that family celebrations are not harmonious. The comic is nasty and comforting at the same time, and is also drawn in a lively and ingenious way.

Mia Oberländer is a comic artist and author. She studied illustration and graphic storytelling with Anke Feuchtenberger at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg. In 2021, she was awarded the Berthold Leibinger Foundation Comic Book Prize and a youth literature prize in the "New Talents" category for her debut "Anna". The book was published in the same year by Swiss publisher Edition Moderne and has since been translated into several languages. Her second graphic novel "Saloon" was published in 2025 (also by Edition Moderne). Mia Oberländer has been active for the Comicfestival Hamburg since 2020.
