In the organizer's words:

The Design Department at the Peter Behrens School of Arts, part of the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf, will open its doors for two days for the 2026 Summer Exhibition

On Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25, 2026, the Design Department at the Peter Behrens School of Arts at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences invites you to the 2026 Summer Exhibition. More than 120 graduating students from the bachelor’s and master’s programs in Exhibition Design, Communication Design, New Craft Object Design, and Retail Design will present their final projects to visitors. The exhibited projects can be viewed throughout Building 6 and offer insight into the various thematic areas of current design education.

On display are diverse artistic and design forms of expression that the
the graduates have acquired during their studies. From jewelry,
installations, photography, illustration, print media, objects, digital projects, corporate identity, exhibitions, and user experience design—all facets of design are on display across three floors. In the process, the role of design in a constantly changing society and the use of artistic and creative methods are continually questioned, redefined, and reinterpreted in order to find answers to social questions, spark discourse, or create new spaces for thought.

Exhibition Design

Summer is more than just a season. It is a state of mind. Between heat and lightness, between exhaustion and excitement, perception begins to shift. Colors become more intense, contours blur, and familiar structures begin to dissolve. Everything slows down and, at the same time, becomes more intense. The visual identity of the 2026 Summer Exhibition is based on thermal images taken on the campus of Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. These images, which capture heat signatures rather than visible surfaces, offer an alternative perspective on familiar surroundings. Through transformation and abstraction, the images are transformed into vibrant fields of color in which their original subjects become increasingly blurred. Fragments of the campus merge into luminous color gradients, flowing transitions, and atmospheric surfaces, while the typography stands out from the visual landscape and then blends back into it. By translating heat into color
and atmosphere, the design creates a visual framework for the exhibition that reflects the intensity, fluidity, and transformative energy of summer.
