AREALE
Ansgar Rolfes’ abstract landscapes—mostly in oil or mixed media on canvas, wood, or paper—are AReals: reincarnations of spaces and experiences. An expression of inner self-definition.
Expansiveness, grandeur, diversity, and impression find their equivalents in composition, contrast, and color. They create space for interpretation and reflection on one’s own experiences; at their best, they lead back to those experiences as a starting point for something new.
They stir and tug there like a strong wind across an open expanse.
