Indie rock duo THE GREAT FAULTS: Somewhere between hard and soft, rock and pop—raw energy, genuine emotion, pure stage magic.

THE GREAT FAULTS—since 2011, this indie rock duo has been blending the artistic disciplines of songwriting, live performance, studio work, and video art into a unique, cohesive concept.

The band’s live shows across Germany are a thrilling experience full of complexity. On stage, the two musicians demonstrate a creative approach to their instrumentation: drums, electric guitar, piano, and blues harp shift in a fluid dynamic. Time and again, they also slip into the role of lead vocalist—without playing an instrument at all. Lyrics are not merely sung, but physically visualized and conveyed directly. Out of love for the moment. As an expression of humanity.

The clash of opposites shapes every artistic facet of The Great Faults: in the ambiguous band name (“The Great or Magnificent Faults”), in the interplay of instruments on stage, and in their lyrics (“Freak out / Freak in,” “Stop thinking twice,” “Know your strength while you fail”). Their sound, too, moves between the familiar tones of rock and the timeless song structures of pop. Their short-film-like music videos shift between expressionism and entertainment.

A constant tug-of-war between hard and soft, fast and slow, melancholic and euphoric, extroverted and introverted. It is precisely this balancing of extremes that makes the band’s work unique—and gives it the energy of an unmistakable, personal style.
